Why should you make a Will?

  1. Provide for your loved ones. A will ensures that your money and property go to the people you want them to go to after your death.
  2. Protect unmarried partners. Unmarried partners have no automatic inheritance rights. With a Will, you can make sure they receive something.

Why have a Lasting Power of Attorney?

A Lasting Power of Attorney (also known as an "LPA") is a document that allows you to appoint another person to look after your affairs if you lose your mental capacity. In short, if you have a stroke or get dementia, someone can speak on your behalf.

What can LPAs cover?

There are two kinds of LPA:

  • Property and finances: this means that attorneys can pay household bills and care fees, manage pensions and benefits, operate bank accounts and manage income and expenses
  • Health and welfare: deals with day-to-day welfare and allows attorneys to arrange care and authorise medical treatments. This type of Lasting Power of Attorney is only used if you lose mental capacity.

We're running Let's Talk Tuesday from 09:00-17:00 on Tuesday 24 November at our offices at 8 Sansome Walk, Worcester. Appointments are free and can be booked either online or by phone.

If booking by phone, mention "Let's Talk Tuesday" to our receptionists, who will get you booked in.
