Guy is a Partner at SME and Head of the Employment and Litigation Department. He has 30 years’ experience of working in the field of Employment Law and has delivered many seminars on the subject including to the Chamber of Commerce HR Forum.
Guy advises both employers and employees in employment matters both locally and nationally and therefore he is able to offer you a unique insight when dealing with cases in the Employment Tribunal.
Guy has a passion for Employment law. Guy says, “We spend a vast amount of our lives at work and clearly it is important therefore to get it right. Employment law is all about dealing with people and how they interact and that is what interests me the most.”
Guy has a detailed understanding and knowledge of all aspects of Employment law be it drafting documents, advising on their contents or representing clients in Employment Tribunals, the Employment Appeals Tribunal or County and High Courts. His practice therefore covers claims of unfair dismissal, discrimination, whistleblowing, restraints of trade, contractual claims and representing clients at judicial mediation and resolving matters by round the table meetings and Settlement Agreements.
He also assists employers and employees with disciplinary and grievance procedures and the drafting of Employment Contracts, Consultancy Agreements and Staff Handbooks. Guy’s works with the Business Services Department to provide employment advice on business mergers and acquisitions. He is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.
As a natural extension to his Employment Law practice, Guy also advises on Data Protection issues including in relation to Data Subject Access requests, the drafting of policy documents and dealing with the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Guy has extensive knowledge of claims of professional negligence. He acts for Claimants in these disputes and is a member of the Professional Negligence Lawyers Association. He has particular experience of claims against solicitors and insurance brokers.
Guy also has over 20 years of experience in dealing with disputes about mobile homes. Such disputes include the termination of written agreements for example, on the basis of pitch fee arrears or a home being in a poor state of repair.
Outside of the law, Guy is a Junior Football coach and Trustee of Worcester Festival Limited. He enjoys spending time with his two children, going on long walks (especially on Dartmoor), listening to his music collection, playing tennis, reading, and presenting general knowledge quizzes. Guy prepares and hosts SME’s Annual Quiz for local businesses from which all profits go to charity.
