Divorce Survival Guide - Part 2


The second in a series of articles suggesting ways to survive divorce or separation in a positive way.

 

2) Stay Positive

 

Some days you will be up and some days you will be down. That is natural. If separation does not hurt it is reasonable to question whether the relationship meant anything. If it did the end will hurt. That is natural too.

 

But it is important to remember that the hurting will ease. For some people it may never go away completely but the rawness eases.  Although it feels as though it is impossible to feel happy again many people do in fact form new relationships in which they are happier than the one that has just finished.

 

Remembering to be kind to others even when the world feels as though it has been unkind to you is a way of creating a reaffirming behaviour. Remembering not to sabotage yourself with negative talk and deciding that you can and will cope with the situation helps.
